Fight #0019: Cheryl Sim - Encore (Feed Lunita Mix) This turned out pretty trippy and IDM-ish. It’s my first time here, be gentle.
Fight #0020: Lanark - El efecto ovni (Battleship Galactaco Mix) Everything in this track is an element from the original. The beat sounds really cut up, but it’s actually just a few tracks of the original beat layered over each other with a slight delay. Both the original and my remix sounded very sci-fi, hence the title. You’ll probably be seeing more “taco” puns in my future remix titles than you’ll be able to stand.
Fight #0021: Bill Berry - The Problem From The Start (Detour Mix) since I’ve never really worked with a rap song before and was kind of worried about letting the vocals fall out of rhythm, I ended up using something of a Prefuse 73 kind of approach to them. I probably spent much more time than is healthy trying to manipulate that “bill berry” call out into existence.
Fight #0029: Loyalty Day - Hey Ruth (Sonic Ruth Mix) I started off working on a different mix, but then I got way too easily distracted layering loops of the guitar line over itself and throwing on various ambient effects, and this was the result. I thought it kind of sounded like something you’d hear on one of those instrumental Sonic Youth EP’s, hence the title.
Fight #0030: Sausage Boy Bits (Sausagecore) This was originally meant to be a parody of hardcore techno, but it gradually shifted directions a bit.
Fight #0035 : Mostly Harmless - RetVC (Too Much Metal For Four Hands Mix) To be honest I wasn’t one hundred percent satisfied with the finished product, but it’s got neat moments anyway. Featuring a special guest appearance from Venom.
Fight #0037: KOMPRESSOR - BRUSH YOUR TEETH (Dentally Disturbed Mix) This is the first time I’ve ended up doing a mix that uses only the vocals (and okay, also the spitting sounds) from the original track.
Fight #0038: Snyder Conglomerate - Voice of the People (Human Animal Hybrid Mix) I guess it’s kind of like if Tom Morello joined Trans Am or something?
Fight #0039: Ape Club - To The Bottom Of The Ocean (Home Aping Is Killing Music) Not really 100% happy with the mixing here, but I got some interesting ideas across anyway.
Fight #0043: Father Bingo - Dry Lots And Red Ones (Legion of Disco Mix) I love the vocal melody and lyrics, but what I was coming up with just sounded better instrumental. The only added element is the hip-hop-ish hammerhead beat; I kind of wanted to bring out some of the little details you don’t really notice when listening to the original version.
