Before starting this, I had only heard the original once before a few weeks earlier and couldn’t remember it at all, so it gave me pretty much a clean slate to work with. As is my usual routine, I stuck to only the original loopset with the exception of the drums, which I completely replaced with a new kit I made in reason. I really loved the opera track in particular, so much so that I decided to use it twice and reversed it the second time. Great loopset and awesome original.”

In addition to the provided loopset, I used loops from “Tour De Mixter” by fourstones, “Wadidyusay?” by Zap Mama, “Oslodum 2004″ by DJ Dolores, and “DC3000″ by Thievery Corporation. All available from CCmixter.org.

For some reason, I kept thinking of “eyes wide shut” during this.

I used all the loops in the set and augmented them with some drums from Reason and some keyboard tracks I created on my Kawaii K1. I was going for sort of a Cure feel to the mix. I chose a riff and ran with it you might say.

Did the whole thing last night and it sounds like it. I wish i’d layered some of the backward synth stuff better but such is life.

seeing as i built the arrangement entirely around the chorus loops, the remix almost works as a sort of reprise. a surprise reprise you might say.

I created a mashup using the Idiot King’s “Third String” and The Beastie Boys acapella vocal track for “Rhyme the Rhyme”. I did the drums, all other music by The Idiot Kings.

I gotta say I’ve had this song stuck in my head now for weeks, which is one of the things I hate about doing remixes. Not that it’s a bad song to have stuck in your head by any means. I really wanted to play Dave Grohl on this one so I ditched the original drums for my own.

cool tune. i did most of mine before listening to the original. then i realized how good the original really is, which is really, really good. i also put together a different version of the source with some rap samples in it, but decided to post this version instead. it just seemed more redundant.

I had done a remix for this a while back, so the one posted here is a “cleaned up” version of the previous one. I took the phase and chorus effect off the vocals, fattened up the bass a bit, and altered the panning on the beats a bit.

I’m a big fan of Jason’s music on ccmixter.
